Richard Höglund (b. 1982, Sumter, South Carolina) is an American artist whose practice bridges abstraction, figuration, and semiology, creating works that are as intellectually rigorous as they are visually arresting. His works explore themes of language, history, and perception, often incorporating unconventional materials to evoke a sense of timelessness and material depth. Höglund studied art at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and semiology at MIT in Boston before earning an MFA (DNSEP) in 2008 from the Haute école des arts du Rhin in Strasbourg, France. In 2013, he was selected by Tacita Dean to participate in her workshop at the Fundación Botín in Santander. His work has been widely exhibited internationally and is included in prestigious collections such as the Dallas Museum of Art and the Rachofsky Collection. He currently lives and works in France.
