Antonio Baptista de Souza, better known as Antonio Poteiro (1925-2010), was born in Santa Cristina, Portugal, and emigrated to Brazil in his youth. Originally a potter—earning him the moniker "Poteiro"—he evolved into a ceramic artist and, under local artist Siron Franco's guidance, a painter. Poteiro's artwork, inspired by his imagination, dreams, and Biblical narratives, is characterized by the masterful use of color and the deliberate embrace of repetition.
