Alejandro Sánchez is a Colombian artist whose work investigates social changes in Latin America, with a particular focus on Colombia. Through his artistic production, he analyzes the causes of these transformations, exploring factors such as globalization, democratization, and economic growth. His work examines the impact of free trade, privatizations, and the expansion of multinational corporations, reflecting on sociocultural consequences such as displacement and cultural uprooting.Sánchez holds a Master’s degree in Visual Arts from the Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas (2008), where he graduated with honors and presented the meritorious thesis Pinturas Imagen-Interpretación. He later pursued a postgraduate degree in Media and Technologies for Pictorial Production at the Universidad Nacional de las Artes (UNA) in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 2012.Throughout his career, he has received multiple awards, including the ASAB Alumni Salon Award (2016), Third Prize at the National Salon of Visual Arts of the French Embassy (2007), and First Prize at the ASAB University Salon (2007). He has also been selected for important programs such as the Havana Biennial (2021-2022) and the New Names program of the Banco de la República (2017-2018).His work has been exhibited in various galleries and international art fairs, with solo exhibitions in venues such as Galería La Cometa, Galería El Museo, and Sala Gasco (Chile), as well as participation in fairs such as ARTBO, Art Lima, Art Miami, and Odeón. He has also participated in artist residencies in France (Jardin Botanique de Marnay-sur-Seine, 2016) and Switzerland (Galerie B-146, 2009).Currently, Alejandro Sánchez resides in Bogotá, where he continues his artistic exploration of sociocultural and economic dynamics in Latin America.
