International artist, Aldo Chaparro was born in Lima, Peru, in 1965. His career has vastly expanded his horizons, and he currently operates six studios around the world — three in Mexico, and the others in Peru, Spain and the USA. His work is found in a variety of important collections around the world. Whether a painting of bold studies of color, or sculptural pieces, Chaparro’s creative work revolves around interactions between different materials and disciplines, including music, sculpture, painting and their installations. The business side of art has expanded his repertoire to include curatorship, film, public art, architecture, industrial design; and editorial work, with his role as Editorial director of Celeste, Mexico, (2000- 2014). His international travels and business dealings have spawned within him, an enviable ability, and a tendency to jump from one language to another. Chaparro has a constant concern about the processes of art, and the connections these disciplines have with broader areas of society. In this way, his work has become a testimony of various processes. He has discarded the concept of the value of the work simply being in the resulting object, and its strict relationship with the art world. Chaparro currently has studios in Mexico (Mexico City, Valle de Bravo, and Monterrey), Peru (Lima), Spain (Madrid), and the United States (Los Angeles). He divides his time between these locations, seeking to generate a more intimate and deep connection, with the people and cities where he develops his projects. Likewise, his Window Displays project in each of his studios has gradually become an important platform, and benchmark for young artists, in each city where he works.
