Alarah Gee (United Kingdom, 1982) British artist, Alarah Gee is based in Yorkshire, England; but her works can be found around the planet, and fortunately for us, here in Mexico. Gee’s style dominantly expresses the science of line drawing, with her practice mainly focused on her endless fascination with the endless line of a circle. Gee’s avant-garde and signature approach in her drawings and paintings, of still life, architectural elements, and everyday objects; utilizes geometry, and tension, to unify her studies of simple shapes. She has recently incorporated Japanese Sumi-e ink techniques to her practice; adding more organic elements to evoke curiosity and intrigue with her monochromatic, spot color, or stark black and white images. The combination of her background in textile design and fine arts is apparent in her simple, but thought provoking and fascinating art form. Gee received a Bachelor’s degree in Textile Design from Nottingham Trent University, and a Foundation in Fine Art from Leeds College of Art. Artist Statement: “It’s storytelling with circles. From observations in organic forms to architectural structures; I challenge my current environment and highlight what is necessary and sufficient. Through the use of differential circles, projective geometry, and a good ol’ trusty pencil, I construct these new realities. Sometimes deviant, often playful, always simple.” - Alarah GeeYour paragraph text
