James Kelsey has an extensive history and expertise of placing art in public spaces. He has teamed up with city governments, corporations, and private collectors, as well as school faculty members, police departments, special interest groups, and engineers. For over 30 years, James has been a sculptor and public artist. His general approach to creating public art has varied little since he started producing it. James loves the process of creation — everything from writing a proposal to talking with art commissioners and interested parties to overcoming obstacles that arise from time to time. James enjoys working with contractors, suppliers, and engineers. This motivates his art and his life. James works mainly in bronze or stainless steel. His monumental sculptures are designed to work with the existing environment, be it a park or corporate building. The motif of the circle and cycles are present in many of his works. The way James takes a simple concept and makes it extraordinary engages viewers of all ages.
