“My paintings for this exhibition are from a collection of abstract oil paintings mimicking the natural rhythms of life and color. Inspired by recent travels abroad, I witnessed the immense diversity of our planet and began contemplating its universal familiarity. A harmonious, soothing palette intermixed with vibrant accents covers the canvas. Each organic form naturally evolves into the next with a sense of my own intuitive process, much like a budding flower emerging from the soil. Expressive mark-making adds depth and texture imbued with simultaneous power and spontaneity, like the push and pull of the ocean’s tides against the shore. For me, this unusual pairing of land and sea becomes symbolic of the life forces that are essential to our being, an equalizing part of our nature that defies society, culture, or geography. We are transported to see the world and our daily lives from new angles that allow us to question who we are, how we find connection, and what it means to be a part of the magical thing called existence. Through these unique perspectives, sprinkled with color and captivating reinterpretations of nature, I want others to find joy. My work is about the gratitude we often forget to feel when burdened by the chaos of the everyday. They are mementos, beautiful reminders that we are not alone.” Angela is a full-time artist and art educator. She’s obsessed with nature and loves swimming in the ocean.
