ANGELA WARREN (American b. Des Moines, Iowa 1985 - )Painter Angela Warren is a full-time artist and educator whose work is deeply inspired by the natural world. Originally from Maine, she spent her early 30s in the Caribbean, where she refined her artistic lifestyle and commitment to plein air sketching. With a BFA in Painting and Printmaking from Drake University and an MFA in Interdisciplinary Studies from the Maine College of Art, her work captures the essence of landscape, light, and plant life in bold, vibrant compositions. Her paintings have been widely exhibited, including notable solo and group exhibitions at the Bridgette Mayer Gallery in Philadelphia, the Mirella Cimato Gallery in St. Pete, the Leslie Curran Gallery, and major art festivals across Florida. Her work is part of public, private, and corporate collections, including Orlando Health, Lake Worth Towers, and The Links Condo in Sarasota. She has also been awarded prestigious artist residencies at the Vermont Studio Center (Pollock-Krasner Fellowship) and The Pace House in Stonington, Maine. In addition to her studio practice, Angela is a dedicated educator and has taught painting and drawing at institutions such as the Maine College of Art and the St. John School of the Arts. As a pre-college painting instructor and adjunct professor, she has developed curriculums in painting, drawing, and mixed media while mentoring students of all levels. She also led community-based art initiatives, co-founding the I Art Love City mural project in St. John, USVI, and contributing to public art commissions such as the St. Pete Pride Mural and projects for Eastern Maine Medical Center. She teaches two highly sought-after virtual art workshops for teams worldwide, helping professionals engage with creativity in meaningful ways. Whether painting in her studio, swimming in the ocean, or hiking through Maine’s wild landscapes, Angela’s work remains a love letter to the untamed beauty of nature and the fleeting moments that define it. She is based in Gulfport, Florida, with her wife, Megan, and two dogs, Bootsie and Tupac. They spend summers at her cabin in Midcoast Maine. Untamed Blooms series: Journey through Wild Meadows is my way of celebrating the wild, ever-changing beauty of nature. Instead of painting flowers as still-life subjects, I focus on capturing their energy, the way they move, catch the light, and shift with the seasons. My paintings are about the feeling of walking through a meadow in full bloom, catching a glimpse of wildflowers on the side of the road, or standing still as nature quietly expands around you. Every brushstroke reflects my appreciation for these fleeting moments, recognizing both their beauty and impermanence. Through bold colors and expressive marks, I try to distill scattered glimpses of light, texture, and form into something that feels alive and whole. Much of my inspiration comes from the places I know best—spending summers in Maine and the rest of the year in Florida. I sketch outside - gathering ideas from the fields, ocean, and sky - then bring those impressions back to my studio, where I let them evolve into paintings that hover between realism and abstraction. Whether it’s the bright burst of forsythia in early spring or the delicate sway of Queen Anne’s Lace in the breeze, I want my work to capture both the strength and fragility of nature. My hope is that my paintings offer a reason to pause, breathe, and appreciate these small, passing moments before they slip away. At its core, my work is about the connection between people and nature, movement and stillness, past and present. I want my paintings to feel open and expressive, embracing imperfection and spontaneity just as nature does. By bringing the wild onto the canvas, I hope to inspire others to embrace their own sense of freedom, step outside the rush of daily life, and see the world with fresh eyes. Solo Exhibitions2024 Mirella Cimato Gallery, St. Pete, FL2023 Beyond the Walls for Opal Sands Resort2022 Beyond the Walls, The Fenway Hotel, Dunedin, FL2021 Beyond the Walls, The Hyatt - Downtown St. Pete2014 Sohns Gallery, Bangor, ME2012 Mayo Street Arts Center, Seeing is Hearing, Portland, ME2012 Moira Fitzsimmons Arons Art Gallery, Bark as Muse, Hamden, CT2010 Free Street Gallery, A, Portland, ME2010 M&B Gallery, Bark as Muse, Portland, ME2007 The Fitch Gallery, Shifting Grounds, BFA Thesis Exhibition, Des Moines, IA Group Exhibitions2024 Summer Break, Leslie Curran Gallery, St. Petersburg, FL2024 Bridgette Mayer Gallery, Converge, Philadelphia, PA2024 The Factory Gallery, Bliss, St. Petersburg, FL2024 Gulfport Fine Arts Festival, Gulfport, FL2023 Arts Annual, Creative Pinellas, Largo, FL2023 All Things Florida, 5 Deuces Gallery, St. Pete, FL2022 Arts Annual, Creative Pinellas, Largo, FL2021 Arts Annual, Creative Pinellas, Largo, FL2020 Mize Gallery, Don’t Ask Do Tell, St. Pete, FL2020 Gallery at Creative Pinellas, Emerging Artist Exhibition, Largo, FL.2019 Mize Gallery, Smile, St. Petersburg, Florida2018 Bajo el Sol Gallery, Renewal, St. John, US Virgin Islands2017 Charles C.
