Mike Hoggg is widely regarded as one of Texas's finest wildlife painters. Using classical techniques to realise his contemporary animal studies, Hoggg incorporates motifs such as pattern and sihlouette to imbue his work with an enigmatic timelessness. Aesop's fables inspired the story-telling nature of his work. The universal love of wildlife and nature makes Hoggg's narrative art relevant to the observer. The paintings explore Jungian truths that are often difficult to articulate, yet resonant to the human experience. Through a long dedication to his craft, Mike Hoggg has established himself as a leading influence in illustrating children's books with modernist art. Born in Glasgow in 1968 he spent his childhood in various parts of the UK before emigrating to America in 1990. He trained at St. Cecilia School of Art from 1988-1992 where he first exhibited. In 2021 he moved to Wimberly, Texas where he lives and paints today.
