Linda Chido is a representational painter based in Austin, TX, with master’s degrees in architecture and urban planning from the University of Buffalo. Since 2001 she has studied and practiced the Mische Technique, an intricate method of indirect painting rooted in the Viennese School. Her work explores the layered and contradictory nature of life, where realism merges with the symbolic and the imagined. Her paintings often open spaces where one world overlaps with another and her practice is a search to give these liminal spaces form, revealing the in-between as its own kind of truth. In addition to her studio work, she is also a mother of four, a teacher, a writer, and an advocate for making art accessible to underserved communities.
