The seeds of Valerie Wolf's fascination with painting were sown when she was a child and her beloved Grandmother took her to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art where a nearly life sized Landseer painting of horses caught her eye and had a huge influence on her, as did Rosa Bonheur’s ‘The Wounded Eagle’. She has a degree in art, but unfortunately when attending the university, traditional painting methods were not taught, and Valarie was left to her own devices to acquire knowledge and skill in the realm of painting.Oils are Valarie’s media of choice--she cannot resist the way they blend, and the richness they impart to a painting. A favorite aspect of using these amazing paints is the infinite mixture of colors which can be achieved. She is a Member of several Art Organizations and Clubs and has won several awards at various juried shows. At the moment however, she primarily enjoys painting animals and people, and is currently working on several commissions, each of which presents a unique challenge.
