The artistic journey of Chris began early as a child of an artistic family. Already in his youth he discovered his talent to be able to paint and draw very well. And at some point his most important topic became clear to him. He started taking portraits of people. He saw them, studied them and drew them. This fulfilled him and became his strongest motivation. To this day, his biggest goal is to meet people with an authentic portrait. They are always the focus of his painting. Chris studied art and design at the School of Design, Pforzheim and at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He paints photorealistically with abstract elements. He only works from photos that he likes to create himself. Otherwise he uses existing photos. Chris develops the picture that he paints from many photos. First he makes preliminary sketches and drawings to familiarize himself with his “subject”. He paints the final picture with acrylic paints. The quick drying time and the possibility of the finest glazes combine perfectly with his subtle and nuanced way of working. His pictures always start like a drawing with a brush and then, step by step, almost imperceptibly transform into a realistic painting.
