Jon DeCelles is a sculptor known for creating evocative works that explore themes of beauty, interconnectedness, unity, and strength. From monumental 12 foot, 10-ton limestone forms, to intimate smaller alabaster creations, his sculptures invite reflection and emotional connection. DeCelles, for as far back as he can remember, has always been drawn to art and music. He believes his musical study and ability is reflected through his flowing forms and the rhythmic lines of his work. A graduate of the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, DeCelles has exhibited widely across the U.S. and internationally, earning numerous awards throughout his career. In 2022, DeCelles was selected by The Honoring Project from a National call for sculptors to create a 12-foot 10 ton limestone memorial sculpture commemorating “All American Indian Days ", an annual event held from 1953 to 1984. The piece now stands in a place of honor in Sheridan, Wyoming. DeCelles' work has traveled across Europe and the UK with the Indigenous Brilliance: Contemporary American Indian Art exhibition, curated by Cornelia Vandenberg and Lyle Toledo Yazzie beginning in 2012. Venues included the Highgate Literary and Scientific Institute Gallery, London, England, Palazzo Vecchio, Seborga, Italy, Veronica Ship NDSM Wharf, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, Olocau, Valencia, Spain. DeCelles' work is recognized for its intricate detail, graceful form, and emotional depth, reflecting a deep reverence for energy, spirit and emotion.
