In my early years in Massachusetts, while acquiring a degree in studio art, I was drawn to the granite shores of Rockport and the endless sand beaches and dunes of Provincetown. Now, many decades later, living and painting on the coast of Maine and the Pacific coast of Mexico, my paintings emerge as layered landscapes and light-filled abstractions: enveloping fog, disappearing shorelines, floating islands, luminous horizons and clouds, and always the sea. I am inevitably drawn to the overlapping of air and water, light and time.
