David LaPalombara explores ideas of spatial perception in his art. He seeks to engage his audience in a physical and intellectual understanding of space by manipulating perspective, adjusting horizon line vanishing points, and experimenting with color and light. Working in nature also is an important subject and expressive theme that infuses most of his art. David spent summers visiting Mt. Desert Island as a child and makes return pilgrimages every year, where he continues to enjoy a variety of outdoor activities and be inspired by the diverse Maine landscape. He currently is Professor of Art at Ohio University, previously taught at Antioch College and the Loyola University Rome campus, and is a Rome Prize and Fulbright Fellow. David’s art has been exhibited in Canada, Italy, Puerto Rico, and a variety of cities in the United States. He received a BA from Oberlin College and an MFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design.
