Bibby Loring, b. 1966, is an artist who is intrigued by nuances in communication and the interpretation of subtle body language. In a recent painting series, Loring features night swimmers illuminated by bright lights among long, cast shadows. The light reveals limited information, only body posture and partially obscured facial features, yet the viewer is drawn to interpret the subject’s narrative. Loring earned a Bachelor of Art in Studio Art with a concentration in Printmaking from the University of Delaware. She enjoys continuing her education via workshops and classes. Loring credits her experience teaching art at a private school in Kensington as the catalyst for opening her own studio. She lives and works in Philadelphia and Mount Desert Island, Maine.
