Renata Boero nasce a Genova, trascorre l’infanzia a Torino poi si trasferisce in Svizzera, dove compie studi umanistici. Tornata a Genova si iscrive al Liceo Artistico dove è allieva di Emilio Scanavino. Nel 1959 espone un’opera alla Quadriennale di Roma, manifestazione a cui partecipa anche nel 1986 e nel 1999. Negli anni Sessanta collabora come restauratrice con Caterina Marcenaro, da quest’esperienza prende avvio l’idea che la tela, per dialogare con lo spazio, deve essere libera dal telaio, inoltre inizia un appassionante lavoro di documentazione sulle sostanze naturali che darà origine ai Cromogrammi. Nel 1974 inaugura la serie degli Specchi, con queste opere, una delle quali esposta per la prima volta nel 1978 all’International Cultureel Centrum di Anversa, è invitata alla Biennale di Venezia nel 1982. Dagli anni Ottanta continua la sua ricerca artistica che la vede impegnata in diverse serie: Blu di legno, Architetture, Enigmi, Crani, Acquerelli di San Diego, fino a quella attuale con le Germinazioni. Renata Boero vive e lavora tra Roma e Milano. Renata Boero was born in Genoa, spent her childhood in Turin and then moved to Switzerland, where she studied humanities. Back in Genoa, she enrolled at the Art School, where she was a student of Emilio Scanavino. In 1959, she exhibited a work at the Rome Quadriennale, an event in which she also participated in 1986 and 1999. In the 1960s, she collaborated as a restorer with Ca-terina Marcenaro; from this experience, the idea that the canvas, to dialogue with space, must be free from the frame also began an exciting work of documentation on natural substances that will give rise to the Cromograms. In 1974, she inaugurated the series of Mirrors with these works, one of which was exhibited for the first time in 1978 at the International Cultureel Centrum in Ant-werp; she was invited to the Venice Biennale in 1982. Since the 1980s she has continued her arti-stic research which sees her engaged in various series: “Blu di legno”, “Architetture”, “Enigmi”, “Crani”, “Acquerelli di San Diego”, up to the current one with the “Germinazioni”. Among her per-sonal exhibitions we remember: Musei Civici of Monza (1988), Casa del Mantegna in Mantua (1992), University of San Diego, California (2005) Mestna Galerija of Nova Gorica, Umetnostna Ga-lerija of Maribor (2007), National Museum of History and Culture of Balarus of Minsk (2008), Uni-versidad Nacional de Cordoba, (2010), Castello Aragonese, Ischia (2011), Museo Diocesano, Milan (2014). She has also participated in numerous exhibitions: XVI Sao Paulo Biennial (1981), at the Pa-lais des Beaux Arts, Brussels (1983), Venice Biennial (1993), collateral events of the Architecture Biennial in 2008 and the Art Biennial in 2009.
