Growing up in Berlin, Germany, into an artistic family, I was fortunate to be exposed to art and history early in life. I was surrounded by people who made incredible pieces of art with different materials. Their influence gave me the opportunity to experiment with a variety of mediums. Creating, reusing materials, and playing with colors and textures have always been a part of me and my art. Living in Oregon, among various landscapes, has widened my appreciation for design and texture in their most natural form. I am inspired by the things that surround me, such as the reflection of lights in water, yellow fields, buildings, flowers in the garden, and animals, as well as paintings by Franz Marc, Paul Klee, and Jean Miro. While dealing with a difficult situation in life, I found relief through painting. Being able to express myself, see the world around me in a new way, and reflect my emotions has been a very important process. I mostly use acrylic paint, applying it loosely with various tools, such as a squeegee, old credit cards, or a brush. Often, I cut out stencils to repeat a form or leave an underpainting exposed. I have also started experimenting with collage. My intention is to create a mood or feeling rather than copy what I see. My paintings tell a story that leaves room for the viewer's interpretation. My artwork is the extension of my soul. Every piece is unique and personal.
