"My works explore connections between people and our environments, whether it is the bond of people's experiences in spaces or perspectives of landscape. Technically, I work to create images by piecing together color fields, so that no outlines define the subjects. The balancing act of color and form is a big component of my practice. Pulling much inspiration from my experiences exploring the world around me, my current work represents my translation of Oregon coastal scenes; the hillsides of urban and suburban Willamette Valley; and family travel experiences. Most recently, my practice involves working with translucent layers of acrylic paint, patterns and metallic colors. These elements help me to create an atmospheric and almost three-dimensional experience of the scenes, as well as a dynamic quality of focal points and narration." –Jude Morales Jude grew up in Denver, Colorado where he began his artistic journey as a child. Mentored in art by a family friend, he eventually studied art in High School. With the encouragement of his teachers and parents, Jude went on to receive a BFA from the University of Colorado, notably studying with professors John Hull and Sally Elliott. Jude has been working as a professional artist for more than 20 years, recently splitting time between his career as a fine artist and his “career” as a dad. He is fortunate to have spent more and more time in the studio in the last few years. In addition to partnerships with galleries and other art venues, Jude is a regular participant in outdoor art festivals, and has connected with collectors throughout North America. Jude lives in Salem, Oregon, with his amazingly supportive wife and kids.
