BRADLEY BEYER – “MY EYECONS”Brad was born June 9, 1951, in Sag Harbor L.I. NY; where he attended the sameschool (Pierson) his grandmother was in the 1st graduating class of in 1908. He is a14th generation native; a descendant of the Hildreth family, and now lives andworks in Amagansett NY. Brad did some charcoal drawings, pen & ink, and watercolors in a Santa Barbara college art class for one year back in the early 70’s wherehe enrolled as a Theater Major, and was playing drums in several different bands. He then returned East, and didn’t pick up the pencils again, but instead, startedteaching himself the guitar, and then switched to the piano. Brad’s family: “TheBeyers”, have been playing music on the East End for over 100 years. The years fly by quickly while one is building a home; a business, and a family.Brad did not do any major drawings for all these years, but the urge was alwaysthere to begin again. His brother’s 60th birthday was coming up and he waswondering if he could do a “new” kind of drawing; different from the traditionalcharcoals. Brad had been thinking of a “portrait” made up of someone’s quotes, biographical information, and historical record. There would be no lines, and noshading. Just words, and different densities of the pencils. After a few years of“thinking about it”, in June 2014, he took the pencils to the paper, and “JohnLennon, an Incomplete Work” was done. 70 pieces later, Brad is actively busy. Asa lover of history, art, and music, he can combine these elements to create uniquepieces. They can be tributes, dedications, gifts, family remembrances, obituaries, and personal art pieces. Whether it’s an “Icon” eyecon, a baby, a bridge or abuilding, the subject matter is endless.Brad’s musical life is busy also. Besides some piano, and some drums, he is playinga lot of harmonicas (they are much easier to move and transport) with some ofthe greatest and known musicians on the “East End”. This is Brad’s 36th year in hisHome Inspection Business – Beyer: Buyer Home Inspection Service, Inc Hopefully, all this pencil lead will lead to less time in a crawl space and an attic, and moretime explaining My Eyecons: “I’m conning your eye to see what I want you to see”Thank you so much for taking the time to look into these pieces and see why theyare “Beyond Words”.
