Debbie Napaljarri Brown, born in 1985 in the remote community of Nyirripi, Northern Territory, carries the stories of her Warlpiri heritage in every brushstroke. Guided by her grandmother, the talented artist Margaret Napangardi Brown, and her grandfather, the renowned Pintupi artist Pegleg Tjampitjinpa, Debbie learned early on that painting is more than a craft—it’s a way to honour land, story, and ancestry. Her works draw from her father’s Jukurrpa (Dreaming) stories, vibrant depictions of the land, its plants, and its animals, rich with meaning and tradition. The colours and intricate patterns she brings to the canvas are more than aesthetic—they’re a celebration of Warlpiri culture, deeply rooted in the connection between people and country. Since 2006, Debbie has worked with Warlukurlangu Artists, an art center known for supporting Indigenous artists in remote areas. Her journey has taken her far, with exhibitions in Australia, Europe, and the U.S., each one an opportunity to share the enduring legacy of her ancestors through her art.Selected Group Exhibitions:2023: Songlines: Peintures Aborigènes du Désert Australien, IDAIA, Paris, France.2017: Warlukurlangu Artists Exhibition, Flinders Lane Gallery, Melbourne, Australia.2015: Mix Masters, Booker-Lowe Gallery, Houston, Texas, USA.
