Michael was born in 1999 and raised in a close-knit Italian-American family in Charleston, South Carolina. As a hyperactive child, his earliest creative outlet came in the pews of his childhood church, where drawing kept him quietly engaged. Though naturally gifted, he viewed art as a pastime—not a path. Like many teenagers, Michael’s high school years brought rebellion, addiction, and a season of spiritual disconnection. His faith faded, replaced by cynicism, poor influences, and substance abuse. He struggled with insomnia, often staying up until 3 a.m.—a season of his life that, unexpectedly, became the foundation for his art practice. With nothing else to do during those long nights, he began painting. A simple watercolor set from his parents and late-night Bob Ross reruns quietly planted seeds that would grow years later. After a near-fatal wake-up call during the COVID-19 pandemic, Michael left his old life behind and began the long road to transformation. A pivotal moment of prayer reignited his faith and set him on a new course. In 2021, he submitted paintings to a virtual exhibition at the Charleston Artist Guild and won an Honorable Mention, sparking the decision to pursue art full time. Since then, Michael has worked in Charleston’s gallery scene while developing his personal art practice. His work is a reflection of both his past and his redemption—rooted in authenticity, faith, and creative purpose.
