These works, mostly autobiographical, reveal much about the subconscious and the outside world. Heavily textured and layered, they center on the practice mark making. The paint is applied with house painting tools, rags, brushes and random sharp objects. The surfaces are dense, colorful and packed with hidden imagery steeped in a graffiti tradition. Hensley was born in Charlottesville, Virginia. He attended Pacific NW College of Art and received a BA in Painting and Printmaking from Portland State University. His work is included in numerous private and corporate collections including, Twitter and Microsoft. He has been reviewed in Art News, Oregon Home Magazine and Seattle Weekly.
