Artist statement I was born and raised on my family’s large, isolated cattle ranch in Northern Utah.I was heavily influenced early on by the surrounding high desert land and mountains of the Great Basin and spent much of my youth gathering cattle and exploring the old homesteads of earlier settlers. I collected bits of iron, wood, and rocks which I found interesting, and was particularly fascinated by objects worn down and altered by time.I attended the Kansas City Art Institute in the early 80’s eventually transferring to the San Francisco Art Institute where I received a BFA in sculpture. I’m currently living on a small ranch near the Galisteo Creek with my artist wife and young son.
