Rochester's internationally known metal sculptor Albert Paley was commissioned by The Daily Record to create the Nathanial Award. In Paley's words, "the drawing contains logical systems of order that are dealing with other systems that are more fragmented and more chaotic and the one system interacts with the other. It represents the whole sensibility of the construct of law and how law determines our culture and how we interact with it. The squares in the center of the print represent sheets, like parchment, that are spun through the composition"
