Kate Furman was born and raised in Greenville, SC where she still resides and handcrafts heirloom jewelry from her studio. Her business, Kate Furman Jewelry, is known for having a “raw and refined” style that often references her love of nature and her whimsical illustrations. Through wax carving, lost wax casting, metal fabrication, stone setting and hand engraving, Kate designs and creates one-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry. She received her BFA from the University of Georgia, and her MFA from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), both specializing in “Jewelry and Metalsmithing”. Kate Furman has exhibited her art nationally and internationally. Currently, she runs her jewelry business, writes and illustrates children’s books, and teaches art classes. When not working, she and her husband raise their two toddler girls and enjoy camping in South Carolina’s mountains and coast.
