Through my detailed pen and ink drawings of the forest, I aim to capture the intricate layers of life woven within its branches and bark. The forest is a metaphor for life itself, a sanctuary for animals and insects, a place of mystery and beauty. I live in a pine forest, and I’m constantly inspired by the light and shadow play that dances through the branches, drawing me to scenes that evoke a sense of wonder and magic. My technique involves careful sketches and photography of my subjects, using a variety of pens to bring each intricate detail to life. By immersing myself in the landscape that surrounds me, I strive to convey the essence of the forest in a way that is both mesmerizing and thought-provoking. Each drawing is a unique exploration of the natural world, inviting viewers to delve deeper into the hidden complexities of the forest that I hold so dear. One of my favorite things to do is to sit and sketch in the quiet of nature. Every piece I create begins with a walk in the forest. Liz received her BFA from the California College of the Arts and her MA from JFK University in San Francisco. I've taught drawing and print making at the Sierra Nevada and Truckee Meadows community colleges. I live in Lake Tahoe, Nevada - surrounded by the beauty of the Sierra landscape. Art making is my passion, it empowers and vitalizes my life. The creative process is what brings me into the studio day after day.
