Working mainly in acrylics on canvas, April uses nature as her inspiration to create paintings that are influenced by her background in graphic design. Strong lines, circles, and bold colors are a repeating theme, combining representational imagery with abstracts. She likes to focus on a piece of nature, magnify it, and create details with simple shapes. Her art is fluid, creating a sense of movement to instill energy into every part of the canvas. She is inspired by the art itself, often starting with a single brushstroke and letting the painting evolve from there. The colors and shapes connect her vision to the canvas. Living and working in the beautiful Reno/Tahoe area has inspired me to create artwork that reflects my surroundings. I moved to Nevada 8 years ago, and have since become interested in landscape painting. From the stark high desert browns and reds, to the dramatic blues of Lake Tahoe, I am enthralled by my everyday environment, and want to showcase the beauty around me in each of my paintings.
