Lisa Jefferson always wanted to be an artist. Any subject matter was of interest and she drew constantly, filling many sketchbooks. She attended Colorado State University majoring in Graphic Design and Illustration, later working in the print industry for several years. For a while art was set aside for work and family but eventually Lisa was able to get back to painting full time. Lisa enjoys painting the local scenery in a realistic style using watercolors and acrylics as her favorite media. She has drawn inspiration for her art from living in the beautiful states of Colorado, Minnesota, and now the Lake Tahoe area in Nevada where she currently resides with her husband. "My paintings are inspired by the natural beauty and light that I find around me on hikes, walks, and snowshoe treks in the Lake Tahoe area and Northern Nevada. My art background is in graphic design and I have painted in watercolor for many years. I enjoy the transparent quality of watercolor both in my painting technique and in the subject matter of my paintings - whether it's clear waters, glass or backlit flowers and foliage." "Focusing on detail, strong values and rich colors - I strive for a sense of depth and realism in my paintings. In the last several years, I have additionally been working in acylics using layering. and glazing techniques. Recently, I have been sealing and varnishing my paintings on paper bonded to aluminum panels or aquaboard panels so that they do not need to be framed under glass - and I love not having the barrier of glass between the viewer and the painting"
