Barbara W. Brogdon Artist Statement My artistic journey spans multiple mediums, influenced by my upbringing in the vibrant contemporary art scene of the Northeast and my deep affinity for the Rocky Mountains and the Southwest. Throughout my adult life, I have integrated art into various business ventures, exploring unconventional avenues of artistic expression. My work is characterized as bold and flamboyant, yet balanced and nuanced. While I continually study multiple mediums, my primary expertise lies in painting. I particularly enjoy Plein air painting, capturing visual memories in oil during travels, and using photographs from hikes and park explorations as inspiration for studio works. While I identify primarily as a landscape artist, I also find creative release in abstract paintings and acrylic color studies. National Parks have long been a source of inspiration for my family. Over the past decade, I have deliberately planned vacations to these parks to immerse myself in nature and expand my landscape painting portfolio.Currently, I balance my time between travel, enriching artistic experiences with my grandsons, and dedicating focused studio time at my lakeside studio in Soddy Daisy, TN.
