Artist Statement: “I draw inspiration primarily from nature, music and life experiences. Each work begins with self reflection. The evolution of a painting begins with influences from the present and thoughts for the future. Multiple layers of materials, shapes and textures reveal a journey of history and discovery. I paint to take you along on my journey; to show you, the viewer what is possible. Each layer is created from curiosity and imperfection, as it is in life. Each painting documents a moment in my personal journey and is an invitation for connection, as well as an opportunity for the viewer to reflect on his or her own life experiences.” Donna Wisener BIO: Currently living in the Middle Tennessee area, Donna Wisener is a contemporary abstract artist and mom. After a 27-year career in Information Technology, she left the corporate environment and transitioned to entrepreneurship as a business consultant and real estate investor. It was during this time that she discovered her true passion through a watercolor workshop, thus beginning her artistic journey. With this new discovery, Donna’s love for painting unfolded. She had the courage to listen to and pursue what was within her. This made all the difference. Her journey shows others that it’s possible to discover and follow a new passion at any stage in life. As a full-time artist, Donna creates layered, experimental abstract artwork that allows viewers to experience and interpret without limits. The authenticity of her work expresses a newness to the viewer, bringing him or her alive. Her artwork has been featured in many solo and group shows. She primarily paints in her home studio, but also has a studio in Columbia, TN that she opens to the public for shows and other events. Her art has made its way into several private and corporate collections across the country.
