This hand-cut work draws inspiration from the delicate structures and quiet rhythms found in nature. Intricate layers and the careful play of shadow and light, each piece invites a closer look encouraging discovery within the hidden and often overlooked. The process of hand-cutting introduces a sense of slowness and intention, allowing each cut to become part of a larger dialogue between form and absence. As light shifts, shadows transform the work, revealing new shapes and meanings over time. In this way, the pieces offer a space for reflection, inviting viewers to see the familiar in unfamiliar ways. Kari Achatz is an artist who lives and teaches in Buffalo, NY.
