Nature is the principle inspiration for Thea Duskin’s paintings. She is particularly interested in Botanica and Ornithological Illustration. Her watercolors play with the contrast between precise details, and loose abstraction. The larger works in this show feature experimentation with collage-like textural effects in paint. The smaller watercolor sketches form the basis for her original tattoo work. Thea Duskin is an internationally exhibited mixed-media and tattoo artist. Her work is in the collection of 21c Museum Hotels, and has been featured on the BBC culture page. Ghostprint Gallery represented her at Aqua Art Miami incorporating live tattoo performance into her solo shows. Other notable exhibitions include: the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe, Gewerbemuseum, and the Valentine Museum. Having tattooed for 30 years, her art seamlessly transitions between media, creating watercolor paintings, and other original art for her clients. She is also a designer on productions for Torn Space Theater, ranging from prop and mask creation, to live body painting. Thea currently tattoos at The Parlour of Buffalo, and travels several times a year for select tattoo, and educational engagements.
