Anthony Parker is a pioneering figure in the contemporary glass marble movement, crafting unique marbles for nearly two decades. Many of his pieces are made from glass he produces himself, contributing to their desirability among collectors. Born in Pendleton, Oregon, in 1945, Parker earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1972 and a Master of Fine Arts degree in 1976 from Portland State University. He went on to teach glass art in Arizona, Alaska, Washington, and Oregon. His work has been exhibited at prestigious institutions such as the Corning Museum of Glass in New York, the Museum of Decorative Art at the Louvre in Paris, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. His art has also been featured in exhibitions across the United States, as well as in New Zealand, Spain, and Romania. In 1984, Parker was awarded a Fulbright Senior Research Grant, allowing him to spend two years in Romania. There, he worked at seven different glass factories and showcased his work at the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest each year.Upon returning to Portland, Oregon, he established his own studio, where he continues to craft his signature handmade marbles—now collected in seventeen countries worldwide.
