Mauricio Lara (CDMX, 1968) Is a Mexican designer and artist known for his great creative versatility, which spans from solid industrial design projects to painting, sculpture, illustration, and experimentation with materials such as ceramics and glass, as well as fashion design collaborations. His work has been awarded both in Mexico and abroad and has been exhibited on various international platforms.With a degree in Industrial Design from the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara, he has more than 33 years of experience. He founded EOS México (1998) and co-founded Lara Hnos. (2004), one of the most important design studios in the country, alongside his brother Sebastián Lara.In 2009, the publishing house Arquine published a book about his work. His piece Erizo (2000) was acquired by the MoMA store in New York, and his Chac Seat (2004) entered the collection of the Denver Art Museum in 2017.In 2022, Toronja Ediciones published Mauricio Lara: Una historia en tinta negra, a book that brings together 16 recent projects where he explores the intersection of art and design, with black ink as the common thread.
