Stanley Shoemaker is a Mexican photographer, class of 1979. His artistic background originates from the Mexican photography school Fábrica de Imágenes, and was later enriched and refined through his participation in various seminars and workshops focused on contemporary photography. In recent years, Shoemaker has received multiple awards, including recognition at the International Biennial of Contemporary Photography in Ecuador. His work has been published in magazines and exhibited in numerous solo and group shows across countries such as the United Kingdom, the United States, Mexico, and Argentina.Shoemaker's work engages in a thoughtful exploration of the role of photography in contemporary times. He assigns photography a crucial function in the cultural development of today’s consumer society, acknowledging that art history reminds us how, in the past, the medium was central to movements such as Pop Art in the 1960s. His images are not only the result of a deep reflection on the role of photography but also on the way it fulfills its purpose. The digital era has made increasingly evident the control humans have always had over this medium—a control often mistakenly believed to be absent when using analog techniques. This, it seems, is Shoemaker’s primary goal: to reveal a reality and a world of images fully shaped by human intent, where perception itself becomes, for the photographer, a new channel of communication.
