I’m a ceramicist but I don’t make pots.Signed,a Lisa Frank fanatic with her hands in some clay At the heart of my work is a desire to bring joy, humor, and a sense of lightheartedness to the world. I create oversized, vividly colorful ceramic sculptures of familiar objects—things we often overlook, discard, or take for granted. By exaggerating their scale in clay, I transform the mundane into something playful and unexpected, inviting viewers to engage with these objects in a new way. Inspired by the bold energy of Pop Art, my pieces celebrate the quirks of consumer culture while embracing a sense of fun and nostalgia. A giant Whataburger meal, an over-sized Tabasco sauce, a 4 foot ice cream cone—each sculpture is an invitation to pause, smile, and appreciate the humor hidden in the ordinary. Through meticulous craftsmanship and vibrant glazes, I highlight the charm in everyday forms, turning disposable ephemera into something lasting and joyful. By distilling the essence of Pop Art into clay, I challenge perceptions of value and nostalgia, presenting objects that are at once instantly recognizable and entirely unexpected. My goal is to create pieces that spark joy, curiosity, and reflection—an invitation to view the everyday through a lens of whimsy, irony, and wonder. My work is a reminder not to take life too seriously. In a world often weighed down by complexity and darkness, I hope my sculptures offer a moment of levity—an opportunity to find delight in the simple, the familiar, and the wonderfully absurd.
