Christina Kent (b. 1993, Houston, Texas) is a figurative painter working primarily in oils. After earning a PhD in economics from Stanford, she recognized that the rational lens of economics could not fully capture the profound complexity of human experience. A self-taught artist who has honed her craft over many years, Kent decided to focus on painting as a way to explore this complexity, using her work to reflect on the subtle nuances found in everyday life. Kent’s work has been exhibited at the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art, the Museum of Northern California Art, and numerous galleries throughout the Bay Area and across the U.S. She was awarded the Emerging Artist Award from Pence Gallery and has participated in both domestic and international artist residencies, including Chalk Hill in Sonoma, California, and Pouch Cove in Newfoundland, Canada. Kent currently lives and works in San Francisco, California.
