Born in Los Angeles, Ian has lived a semi nomadic lifestyle with stints in Philadelphia, Auckland, the Pacific Northwest, and a half dozen places in between. He is currently setting roots with his wife and four daughters, in Nashville, Tennessee. Ian is a playful realist painter. His work depicts near photorealistic subjects, of everyday people set in bright minimalist color fields and expressive line work. Identity, emotion, expression, and humor all intermingle on the canvas. Among is influences are Maira Kalman, Wassily Kandinsky, and Chuck Close. Ian is a graduate of BYU Visual Arts.
