Augustin Cruz Tinoco is a talented artist known for his whimsical creations that span a wide range of figures and objects. From saints holding scales of justice to unique nativity scenes mounted on tortoises or placed in cars, his work is filled with imagination. He also crafts charming seated fishing animal figures, carts, carousels, ferris wheels, and mermaids whose tails serve as boats for transporting figures. Originally from the Sierra Mixe region, Cruz Tinoco relocated closer to Oaxaca, specifically a town near the airport, in order to showcase and sell his artwork more effectively. Collaborating with his two sons in the carving process, and his daughters bring their creations to life with lively decorative painting. His work stands out with its polished craftsmanship and intricate detailing, enhanced by vibrant acrylic paints.
