lois andison is a sculptor/installation artist based in Toronto, Ontario. A practicing artist since the 1990’s, andison’s work has touched on the mediated body, institutional critique, grief and loss, women’s labour, and the politics of care. She is known for her kinetic artwork. Many of the works incorporate language and use movement and performativity to cultivate an experiential, and often sustained, viewing. Her afterworks series is an ongoing dialogue with male modernist artists where she disrupts their seminal works by troubling both power and patriarchy. lois has exhibited nationally and internationally in Mexico City, Boston, New York, Montreal, Lethbridge, and Buffalo. She is the recipient of numerous grants and awards and her work is part of both private and corporate collections. lois is a Professor in the Fine Arts Department of the University of Waterloo, Waterloo, Ontario.
