Cushman “Cush” Walker1909-1969 Cushman Walker, Jr. was born in San Francisco, California in 1909. He painted street scenes as well as nostalgic impressionist compositions of old houses and derelict buildings in his native San Francisco and in New Orleans, where he spent much time. He painted primarily in oils.During World War II “Cush,” as he was known, served in the Marine Corps. After the war he settled on the Monterey Peninsula. Walker studied at UC Berkeley; University of Michoacán in Morelia, Mexico; McGrady School of Art in New Orleans; and with John Cunningham at the Carmel Art Institute in Carmel, California. Walker was a long-time Artist Member of the Carmel Art Association. He exhibited there and at other venues on the Monterey Peninsula. He died on the Monterey Peninsula in 1969.
