Susan Spies, a member of the esteemed Southern Highland Craft Guild, is a jewelry designer and metalsmith who - with her late husband Klaus - moved from Berlin to Chicago in 1999 where they started Spies Design, a craft jewelry brand based on ancient goldsmithing principles. They settled in Asheville in 2008, crafting superb and sleek jewelry designs. Susan carries on the legacy of Spies Design, following the iconic and expressive design path that Klaus trailblazed. It is marked by bold architectural shapes, stunning natural stones, and exquisite design and upholds the standards of superb craftsmanship in primarily 18k gold and sterling silver with precious gemstones. Spies is an avid traveler and also a professional translator, educated in Geneva, Switzerland.
