Bin ZhangBin Zhang is a contemporary impressionist painter. Throughout his adolescence, Bin had always taken an interest in art and began to draw and paint at a very young age. Although his engineering education led him to a career as a research scientist, Bin’s strong passion for art always persisted. Since 2002, Bin has been guided under the mentorship of internationally renowned artists Steve Carpenter and Mau-Kun Yim, who introduced him to classic and academic approaches in drawing and oil painting.Bin loves to paint landscapes. To him, expressing the splendor of the wonderful creation around him with light and shadow, line and mass and variations of colors and textures is the most satisfying aspect of being a painter. Bin’s landscape painting style is influenced by twentieth century impressionist and tonalist painters such as Isaac Levitan and George Innes. Recently his painting has been inspired by master contemporary landscape painter Michael Workman, from whom he has taken in-person workshops in Helper and Spring City, Utah. Bin artistically strives to convey a mood of familiarity and nostalgia so that his works can deeply resonate with viewers.Bin currently lives in Rochester, NY with his wife Jun Ma.
