Susanne Heitz was born in Germany but spent much of her life in the Caribbean. She was formally trained at the Hochschule for Fine Art and Design in Hannover, Germany. Susanne has illustrated several books for children, and her paintings can be found in galleries and art shows, private homes and public institutions throughout the world. Her love of nature and vibrant colors are key elements in her work. Susanne finds a lush playground for her imagination in the Caribbean. She lives with her husband and a couple of cats between Dominica, Barbados and Germany. ARTIST STATEMENT I am a fine ARTIVIST, hurricane-proof and nature-loving global nomad with roots in the Caribbean and Europe. I’ve been painting since I was able to hold a crayon and was formally educated in fine arts and design. My art describes my impressions of my spiritual journey through life, reflecting my strong belief that everything is connected. My work is often described as colorful and bold with a touch of surrealism and subtle symbolism and reflects my love for nature and the Caribbean. Studio presence in Dominica, Barbados and Germany.
