Artist Bio: Edward Collins is a 32-year-old artist based on the island of Dominica passionate about the use of art as a means of self-expression. Although his artistic journey has not been a long one, he takes on a variety of media to express his creative vision. These include charcoal and graphite drawings, acrylic and oil painting, chalk, hard and soft pastels, wood carving, stone chiseling, various forms of performance art and more recently, mural work. His drive to grow as a creative pushes him to continue to develop and challenge himself with each new piece. Most of his work has revolved around the themes of perspective and perception and how context affects each, becoming the lens through which we see the world and perceive reality. As a main goal he wishes to develop his artistic style to a level that will inspire others to find and explore their own artistic voices. Artistic statement I believe that artistic expression is the lens through which people can give a very personal interpretation of the world around them. The universe is a masterpiece in and of itself and we artists do our best to convey the complexities that is this reality. This is what drives my work: a need to understand reality and share my perspective.
