Cliff Barnes has spent nearly 35 years painting the people, landscapes, and wildlife of America. Born in California, he began by sketching friends and local scenery. After graduating from Burbank High School, he received a Disney Scholarship to attend Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, where he developed his distinctive style. He later served in the U.S. Army and worked as editor of the Stuttgart Military newspaper in Germany, experiences that deepened his love for travel, photography, and storytelling through art. Cliff’s travels through Europe and across the United States have provided endless inspiration. He eventually transitioned from architectural illustration to full-time fine art, selling work through galleries and shows nationwide. His paintings celebrate the American West, its rich history, and its wildlife, and he works in both oil and watercolor. Cliff is a Signature Member of the American Plains Artists, Oil Painters of America, Watercolor West, and the California Art Club. His work has been featured in numerous exhibitions, including at the Autry Museum and the San Bernardino County Museum, and has earned over 40 major awards.
