Zee Huang lived in Hamilton, Montana, for 15 years, where the surrounding nature and environment profoundly influenced his later artistic career. After graduating from Pratt Institute in New York with a bachelor's degree in 1999, he worked as a graphic designer in California. In 2006, he decided to further his studies in painting and was admitted to the Oil Painting Department of the China Academy of Art, where he pursued his MFA. Following his graduation in 2009, he joined the School of Fine Arts at Hangzhou Normal University as a lecturer. Since 2022, he has been working as a freelance artist and currently splits his time between China and California. Zee Huang is a member of several prestigious art organizations, including the Oil Painters of America (OPA), Portrait Society of America, American Impressionist Society, Zhejiang Provincial Artists Association, and Zhejiang Oil Painters Association. His works have been selected five times for the OPA National Exhibitions and three times for OPA regional exhibitions. In 1997, his painting “At Rest” won Best of Show at the 6th Annual Oil Painters of America Western Regional Exhibition. In 2011, another piece, “Fishing Boats”, received the Seascape Award at the 20th Annual OPA National Exhibition. His artwork has been widely collected by enthusiasts worldwide.
