Robert MacPherson began painting in oils more than 50 years ago while serving in the Navy. Over the decades, his motivation to paint has remained steady, fueled by ongoing experimentation with new techniques and subject matter. He is especially drawn to scenes that feel fresh and unfamiliar, always seeking new visual experiences to explore. Recently, his focus has turned to seascapes painted largely from imagination, using minimal reference material. This approach allows for creative freedom while still drawing on a lifetime of observation and artistic practice.
