Julie Scheyer is a Maui-based sculptural artist whose work bridges fine art, material science, and architectural installation. Inspired by the movement of water, light, reefs, and ocean energy in Hawaiʻi, she creates dimensional resin wall installations and sculptural lighting that shift with light and perspective. With a background in chemical engineering and years of experience working with surfboard composite construction techniques, Scheyer developed a process that allowed her to move beyond traditional resin artwork into larger-scale sculptural forms that remain lightweight, durable, and structurally stable. Each piece is individually formed using layered epoxy resin techniques, composite reinforcement, and professional UV-resistant 2K coatings designed for long-term durability and luminous depth. Her work combines sculptural form, chemistry, and coastal influence to create immersive surfaces that feel both organic and architectural. The result is a body of work that exists between fine art, installation, and functional sculpture. Scheyer’s work has been exhibited internationally and installed in hospitality and healthcare environments including Maui Country Club, Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital, Atlantic Gallery New York, and Liu Haisu Art Museum Shanghai.
